New E-Verify Bill Introduced to the House
Giselle Carson Jun 28, 2011 in Immigration News
Representative and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith introduced the Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 2164) last week, which would make E-Verify mandatory for most employers. The bill would also eliminate paper I-9s, making worker eligibility authorization entirely electronic. The plan is to gradually phase in E-Verify and phase out I-9s to give employers time to adapt to the new system. Click here to read the press release from the House Judiciary.
