Meet Josephine Chen, the Newest Patent Agent at Marks Gray!
Crystal Broughan, Intellectual Property Attorney May 18, 2023 in Intellectual Property
I am excited to announce a new member of the Marks Gray team. Welcome to Josephine Chen, our newest patent agent. Although Josephine is a registered patent agent with the USPTO as of March of this year, she is not new to patent law. She was previously a patent agent in Taiwan with a medical and biotechnology focus. She often worked with physicians and universities to secure global patents for hospitals and medical centers.
We met Josephine through the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville earlier this year. Her husband, Rex Fan Chiang, was a Rotary international exchange student through the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville several years ago. Josephine was also a Rotary international exchange student from Taiwan to Denmark in 2012-2013, where she learned Danish.
When she returned to Taiwan, she became a member of Rotex, a society of past Rotary Youth Exchange students, in Rotary District 3461 in Taiwan, which is where she met her husband. Eventually, the two moved to Jacksonville when they decided to relocate from Taiwan to the U.S.
Josephine’s worldly experience enables her to assist with the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications both domestically and internationally for small- and medium-sized businesses. We especially see her expertise and insight supporting our clients who need to patent medical devices and processes. Additionally, she is trilingual in English, Mandarin, Chinese, and Danish. She will be able to expertly assist us in coordinating with international associates in global patent prosecution spanning Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and beyond.
Josephine is an invaluable addition to Marks Gray! We are so happy that she chose to settle in Jacksonville and delighted to have her on the team.
