Extension of USCIS Office Closures

by | Apr 5, 2020 | Agencies (CBP, DHS, DOL, DOS, USCIS, ICE), Immigration

Since March 18, in-person services have been suspended at USCIS application support centers (ASCs ), asylum offices, and field offices due to COVID-19. These closures are now extended until May 3 at least.

USCIS offices are expected to reopen May 4 provided closures are not extended again. While the closures remain in place, employees will:

  • engage in services that are considered “mission-essential” and include no in-person interaction with the public;
  • offer limited emergency services;
  • send notices to petitioners and applicants who have appointments and ceremonies affected by the temporary closures; and
  • notify asylum-seekers of canceled interviews, reschedule those interviews, and send out information about the rescheduled interview.

ASC appointments will not be rescheduled until offices reopen.

If you had InfoPass or some other appointment, please reschedule via the USCIS Contact Center after field offices reopen.

We will continue to update you as the situation develops. You can also check the official government page.
