E-Verify Updates

by | Oct 18, 2010 | Immigration Team News

This month, we’re continuing our update on the E-Verify system.

Some employers use designated third party agents to process their E-verify inquiries.  USCIS has noted some concerns with the procedures used by these agents and is working on a new MOU for designated agents.  USCIS has reported that some agents are not using updated forms and are not properly addressing tentative non-confirmations.  Under the new MOU, agents will be required to operate under stricter guidelines and standards.  In the future, designated agents will have to maintain timely updates, have greater responsibility in transmitting information to clients and standardize the appearance of tentative non-confirmation paperwork.  These changes are expected to make the E-Verify program more reliable.  For more information on designated agents, click here.

USCIS also released an updated user manual that provides guidance on E-Verify processes and outlines the rules and responsibilities for federal contractors who have the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause in their contracts.  To view that document, click here.
