On October 2, 2012, the Office of the Judges of Compensation Claims will presented “Ethical and Professional Challenges of Attorney’s Fees and Costs.” A panel of Judge Lazzara, Judge Rosen, and Bar Counsel Annemarie Craft discussed examples of fee and cost issues that confront practitioners. Allison Hauser of Jacksonville moderated the panel discussion. Attendees heard specific hypothetical examples of fee and cost allocations. The constraints of the Florida workers’ compensation law and the rules of professional conduct were described and illuminated. The allocation of fees and costs are a concern for all players in the workers’ compensation system, including counsel, parties and adjusters. An application has been submitted to the Bar for accreditation for one hour of credit in ethics and professionalism.
