Nelson Mandela told her, “Your ambition has to be better than that of your parents.” Today, Dr. Makaziwe Mandela is building on her father’s work of inclusion and equality. Her remarks when accepting the Jacksonville University’s Global Citizen Award were inspiring and from the heart.

“We’ve got to celebrate diversity of cultures, of ethnic groups – America is a land of immigrants,” she reminded us. “Focus on the good; tell good stories. The more we do this, the more goodness we will have in our society.” Congratulations, Dr. Mandela!
