Michael McCoy’s practice focuses primarily on civil trial defense in the areas of medical malpractice, commercial & construction litigation, automobile personal injury, medical liability, professional liability,  and products liability.  Mr. McCoy also represents health care professionals in matters before the Florida Department of Health.

Mr. McCoy attended the University of Florida where he received his B.A. in 1995 (with honors), and received his J.D. in December 2000 (with honors) from the University of Florida College of Law. During Mr. McCoy’s first year of practice, he clerked for Chief Administrative Law Judge John M. Vittone in Washington, D.C.

Mr. McCoy was admitted to the Florida Bar in May 2001 and he is a member of the Jacksonville and Florida Bar Associations.  He also served as an elected member of the Jacksonville Bar Association's Board of Governors (2008-2009).  Mr. McCoy has served as an officer in the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel (JADC) and as an officer in the Catholic Lawyers Guild.  He is a member of the Chester Bedell Inns of Court and attended the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy in 2009 at Stanford University College of Law.  He has participated as a member of the Board for the Ronald McDonald House Run Committee, and he served as the Chair in 2009.  He was also the Chair for the Jacksonville Bar Association's Holiday Project from 2007-2009.

In addition to enjoying his work, volunteering and community participation, Mr. McCoy enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys running and has completed the New York City Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon, and the Disney Marathon.
